In a significant crackdown, Sharjah police seize over 1,240 kg of drugs valued at Dh279 million and arrest 680 people.
In 2024, 680 drug-promoting social media profiles were shut down, improving public safety.

Sharjah Police reported that during a massive anti-drug operation in 2024, they seized over 1,240 kilogrammes of drugs worth Dh279 million, dealing a serious blow to drug trafficking networks. The emirate’s firm stance against drug offences was further reinforced by the crackdown, which resulted in the arrest of 680 people involved in drug-related operations.

Additionally, 680 social media accounts that were used to advertise and sell illegal narcotics online were taken down by authorities. According to officials, this digital sweep was crucial in reducing the influence of internet drug dealers who prey on children and other vulnerable people.

The campaign is part of Sharjah’s intensified efforts to safeguard the community and combat drug-related crimes through strategic intelligence, international cooperation, and public awareness. Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a drug-free and secure society.
