Sharjah: Public parking across the emirate is free

Today, motorists in Dubai and Sharjah can enjoy free public parking in celebration of the Hijri New Year holiday. Residents and tourists who intend to spend the long weekend exploring the cities or attending family get-togethers will be relieved by the announcement. The initiative is part of the UAE’s tradition of offering such benefits during public holidays to ease mobility and promote convenience.

In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that all public surface parking zones are free of charge today. However, it’s important to note that multi-storey parking facilities are excluded from this offer and will continue to operate under the standard fee structure. Drivers are advised to park responsibly and avoid violations, even in free parking areas.

With the exception of blue-zoned districts, which are open seven days a week, including holidays, Sharjah Municipality has also announced free parking throughout the emirate. Drivers are advised to carefully study the signage designating these particular zones in order to prevent unexpected fines. The programme seeks to promote safe and lawful parking practices while improving the vacation experience.

Regular parking fees will resume tomorrow, officials in both emirates have informed the public. While making sure they follow parking rules, drivers are urged to take advantage of today’s free parking. These initiatives are a part of a larger movement to effectively control traffic and offer a stress-free travel experience on important occasions.

Parking is free today in both Dubai and Sharjah in observance of the Hijri New Year (Friday, June 27, 2025). What you should know is as follows:

Free Parking Details:
Dubai: All public parking zones are free today, except multi‑storey parking terminals, which still charge fees.

Multi-level covered car parks in Dubai are not included in the free parking offer.

In Sharjah, look for blue signage—those spaces still require payment today.

Regular parking fees resume tomorrow, Saturday, June 28.

Advice for Drivers:

To take advantage of the free offer, only park on public surfaces in both emirates.

In Sharjah, stay away from seven-day/blue-zone areas as they are still fee-based.

Beware of multi-storey car parks in Dubai—they’re not free today.

Plan ahead–signage is clear, but a quick scan saves you fines.

Have a smooth and stress-free holiday ride… and enjoy the free parking perk!
