Sharjah Ruler Advocates Tree Planting for Healthier Urban Living

The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has called on residents to increase tree planting, highlighting their vital role in improving urban health and well-being. Trees make cities greener and offer important environmental benefits, such as reducing noise pollution from busy roads and enhancing air quality.

Sheikh Sultan emphasized the significance of sustainable living, explaining how planting trees in urban areas can turn neighborhoods into healthier and more enjoyable spaces. “Trees serve as natural sound barriers, soaking up noise from highways and other city activities, while also providing shade and lowering temperatures,” he stated.

This initiative is part of Sharjah’s larger environmental objectives, which aim to create sustainable, livable cities for future generations. Local authorities have already launched programs to encourage community involvement in greening urban areas, offering resources for residents to plant and care for trees in their communities.

Residents are invited to take part in this initiative, helping to build a healthier urban ecosystem. In addition to the environmental benefits, planting trees strengthens community bonds and underscores the collective effort required to tackle urban issues like pollution and climate change.
