Sri Lanka’s Bowlers Shine as Ebadot Hossain Returns in Colombo Test

On the first day of the second Test in Colombo, which was disrupted by rain, Sri Lanka’s bowling attack grabbed central stage. They destroyed Bangladesh’s batting lineup, bringing them down to 220 for 8 by stumps at the Sinhalese Sports Club. Sonal Dinusha, a rookie left-arm spinner, stood out with figures of 2 for 22, playing a crucial role in the collapse of the evening.

A battle between returning bowler Ebadot Hossain, who returned to the Test arena after a two-year sabbatical, and tail-ender Taijul Islam helped Bangladesh make a partial comeback. The two provided essential lower-order resilience prior to the play being stopped because of the waning light.

In spite of Bangladesh’s intermittent aggressiveness, Sri Lanka quickly recovered its pace. The conditions were exploited by seamers Asitha Fernando and other pacers, who each took important wickets, while spinner Dinusha’s control caused the batsmen’s rhythm to be disturbed.

Early on Day 2, Sri Lanka smelled blood as Bangladesh’s tail was wagging late. A commanding 102-run partnership between openers Pathum Nissanka and Dinesh Chandimal has pushed the hosts to 290/2 at tea, nearly erasing Bangladesh’s lead and shifting control firmly to the home side
