The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has officially introduced SteerAI through its commercialization arm, VentureOne. This innovative mobility system uses artificial intelligence to turn standard industrial vehicles into fully autonomous machines.
SteerAI is initially focused on the logistics and defense industries, combining a state-of-the-art hardware kit, software, and fleet management system. This allows autonomous ground vehicles to carry out complex tasks with remarkable accuracy and efficiency. The technology saves time and resources while improving the safety of human workers. The advancements behind SteerAI come from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), which is ATRC’s research division.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President and Secretary General of ATRC, stated, “The launch of SteerAI is a big step forward in the UAE’s goal to lead in autonomous technology. At ATRC, we aim to continually innovate, and SteerAI shows how we are turning cutting-edge research into real-world solutions that make a difference.”
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, highlighted, “We haven’t just built an autonomous vehicle we’ve created its ‘brain.’ Our advanced navigation algorithms work with top sensors to form an efficient system that can adapt to any vehicle, potentially changing how we transport goods.”
Vehicles using the SteerAI system will operate reliably between navigation points, reducing downtime. The software works alongside the sensors, allowing vehicles to quickly react to dangers, navigate around obstacles, and function smoothly in tough conditions and unknown areas.
In addition to full autonomous mobility, SteerAI’s software supports remote fleet management, including mission planning, monitoring, and data analysis to enhance vehicle use and performance.
“SteerAI is a major milestone for us in creating a positive impact through advanced technology,” said Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne. “The demands in logistics and defense are intense and costly. Our vehicle-agnostic autonomous system improves efficiency and precision while protecting what matters most—people. We aim to use technology to help our partners change their operations for the better.”
SteerAI is the second project launched by VentureOne, following the debut of AI71 in November 2023, which focuses on business solutions using TII’s Falcon generative AI models.
