In the Mecca region of Saudi Arabia, a bus swerved out of control coming down a slope and injuring several students. The accident occurred in Al Kamil governorate when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rammed into an earthen barrier. Air ambulances were used to take the injured students to hospitals for treatment.

The accident prompted traffic police to investigate the case and ascertain whether the bus brakes were in good condition. Teams of civil defense have also been involved in trying to get the bus out of the site. The accident is among a few reported in Saudi Arabia in recent times, indicating a need for improvement in road safety measures.

As stated by authorities, safety during transportation from school must be ensured. Thus, several actions are taken so that a situation like this doesn’t occur again in the future. Community has come up and is rallying for the cause to support these children and their family members, in this most stressful time.
