Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has declared a royal decree establishing November 20 and 21 as the Sultanate’s National Day. This annual event will focus on Oman’s glorious past, history, and successes. The two-day holiday will apply to employees within the Sultanate’s administrative apparatus, public sector entities, private companies, and other legal establishments.

The national day marks the date when the Al Busaidi family started their service to the country in 1744. This united the Omani nation under the leadership of the founding Imam, Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi. This year’s celebration is going to pay tribute to the past but will also reflect upon the progress and development Oman has gained over time.

The event is meant to enhance national identity and pride, where citizens and residents are more compelled to reflect on the country’s history and achievements. The program will include most of the cultural events, exhibitions, and activities that outline Oman’s peculiar traditions and accomplishments.

Sultan Haitham’s decree represents remembering historical milestones that have given shape to the sultanate and the continuation of building a prosperous and united nation for generations to come.
