The Impact of Abu Dhabi T10 on UAE Cricket
South African cricket legend Lance Klusener believes the Abu Dhabi T10 has played a game-changing role in UAE cricket, similar to the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) influence in India. The league requires each team to include at least two UAE players in the playing XI, which has opened doors for local players to gain valuable experience.
“It’s a fantastic initiative to have two UAE players on the field at all times. It’s a common rule in franchise cricket, but it offers great opportunities for these players. Over time, this will add immense value to UAE cricket. Much like what IPL has done for Indian cricket, T10 is uncovering raw talent,” Klusener said.
Klusener’s Role in the Abu Dhabi T10
Known for his dynamic playing style, Lance Klusener is now the head coach of Morrisville Samp Army. Under his leadership, the team has had an impressive season, securing a spot among the top two teams during the round-robin stage.
During his cricketing career, Klusener was celebrated for his aggressive batting and quick running between the wickets. His energy on the field drew comparisons to his former teammate Jonty Rhodes, both known for their exceptional fielding skills.
It’s no surprise that Klusener appreciates the fast-paced nature of the T10 format. Now in his third year coaching in the league, he finds the format well-suited to his style of cricket.
“T10 fits the type of cricket I used to play. Coaching in this league and working with some of the world’s top players is exciting. It’s great to be a part of this format and contribute to its growth,” Klusener shared.
