Abu Dhabi Police issued drivers a firm notice against taking the hard shoulder lane illegally to pass other cars on the road. The notice is a follow up on increased offenders who not only cause disturbance on the traffic route but also take severe risks while endangering others on the roads.

Drivers caught overtaking on the hard shoulder will be fined Dh1,000 and receive six black points against their driving license. The authorities clarified that the hard shoulder is only meant for emergency use and that abuse will cause delays in emergency response and risk lives.

The police have mounted more vigilant surveillance along major roads in Abu Dhabi, from AI-powered cameras to plainclothes patrols to catch the culprits in the act. The objective is to encourage safer driving practices and curb accidents due to reckless overtaking.

Drivers are being asked to practice patience during congested traffic and adhere to all traffic rules. Abu Dhabi Police reaffirmed their dedication to traffic safety and urged the public to report any unsafe driving behavior they observe.
