In a significant step towards Syria’s renewed regional participation, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Abu Dhabi. The leaders convened at Qasr Al Shati with the aim of strengthening the “fraternal relations” between the two countries, emphasising mutual prosperity, reconstruction, and economic progress.

They discussed a wide range of regional and global issues in depth, highlighting the significance of fortifying the Middle East’s foundations for peace, security, and stability in line with the inhabitants’ common interests.

President Sheikh Mohammed pledged aid during Syria’s transitional period towards recovery and future stability, reaffirming the UAE’s unwavering support for the Syrian people. Al-Sharaa conveyed gratitude for the UAE’s continuous assistance and hoped for more collaboration.

The meeting—part of Al‑Sharaa’s working visit—follows his earlier Gulf trips and signals Syria’s gradual return to the regional fold. It highlights the UAE’s role as a key partner in Syria’s economic and diplomatic matters.
