Thinking about selling your platinum jewellery? Here’s why finding a buyer could be challenging

Selling platinum jewelry can be quite challenging. It often presents obstacles that aren’t as evident when selling gold or silver. Even though platinum is considered a premium metal, the resale market doesn’t always reflect its higher value.

In Dubai and various other markets, the resale price of platinum is often lower than anticipated. This is mainly due to limited demand and a smaller pool of buyers who understand its true worth.

Rochelle Mariam, a precious metals retail analyst in Dubai. She said, “While platinum is typically valued higher than gold because it is rarer and denser, this doesn’t always lead to higher resale prices”.

She further said, “Many consumers are simply more accustomed to gold and silver, which influences their willingness to pay a premium for platinum.”

Platinum does not have a higher resale price. It shows the rarity of this metal as compared to gold and silver.
