UAE Appeals to Syria to ‘Prioritize Wisdom’ for a Peaceful Future

The UAE is carefully watching the situation in Syria and has reaffirmed its support for the country’s unity, stability, and security for the Syrian people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized the importance of maintaining Syria’s national integrity and avoiding any steps that could lead to chaos or instability.

In its statement, MoFA urged all Syrian parties to act wisely during this critical period in Syria’s history. The ministry highlighted the need for decisions that align with the hopes and ambitions of the entire Syrian population.

Recent Developments in Syria

After nearly two weeks of intense fighting, rebel forces in Syria have taken control of four major cities and entered Damascus. The Syrian military has shown no signs of deployment in response. On Sunday, President Bashar Al Assad reportedly left Damascus for Moscow, with Russian media outlet TASS confirming that he and his family have been granted asylum in the Russian capital.

Hadi al-Bahra, the head of Syria’s main opposition group abroad, declared on Sunday that Damascus is now “without Bashar Al Assad.” This marks a significant turning point after a 13-year civil war, which began in 2011 when the government forcefully suppressed peaceful protests demanding democratic reforms.
