The UAE and China have made a strong step forward in improving the global nuclear safety standards by strengthening their joint effort for nuclear regulation. A high-ranking Chinese delegation visited the UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) this week with the objective of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear regulation and emergency preparedness.

During the visit, the delegation visited FANR’s hi-tech Emergency Operations Centre, which is a key facility for handling nuclear safety incidents and radiological emergencies. Both sides explored knowledge-sharing, joint training exercises, and developing regulatory best practices.

Officials noted that the collaboration will serve to augment the safe, secure, and peaceful utilization of nuclear energy consistent with international best practices. FANR and China’s regulatory agencies will further engage in collaborative research and technical cooperation to uphold their operations in conformity with the highest international safety standards.

Such increasing cooperation manifests the two countries’ dedication to developing innovation and nuclear safety and advancing the wider global nuclear community.
