The General Women’s Union (GWU), in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union and UAE Cybersecurity Council, has completed a two-day international training program focused on empowering women in cybersecurity governance and diplomacy.
Held at the GWU’s headquarters under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the event gathered women from 22 countries across the Arab region and beyond.
This “International Programme for Training Women Trainers” aimed to support female policymakers, peace and security professionals, and women in tech who aspire to lead in cybersecurity.
Through hands-on training and theoretical learning, participants gained skills in cybersecurity threats, AI risks, and national resilience strategies covering legal and technical areas.
The program also included strategies for building national cybersecurity, working with key stakeholders, and exploring international cyber diplomacy.
GWU’s Secretary-General, Noura Al Suwaidi, emphasized the UAE’s role in supporting women in technology and policy, attributing the progress to the leadership of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, praised the program as a major step toward empowering women in cybersecurity, acknowledging Sheikha Fatima’s vital support in the UAE’s mission to create a secure digital future.
