The UAE Government’s Annual Meetings 2024 concluded today in Abu Dhabi after sessions held on November 5 and 6, gathering over 500 leaders and officials from federal and local entities. The next Annual Meetings are scheduled for November 5 and 6, 2025.
These meetings resulted in significant outcomes, laying a strong foundation to speed up progress and achieve new goals that improve the UAE’s development, competitiveness, and quality of life.
New strategies, innovative projects, and decisions created a national roadmap for ongoing development and a brighter future for future generations. The meetings played a key role in advancing the UAE’s “We the UAE 2031” vision and the UAE Centennial Plan 2071. This progress depends on updated plans that unify efforts, enhance teamwork, and promote a proactive and integrated culture at all government levels.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that the Annual Meetings reflect the vision and guidance of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and are chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister. The event included interactive sessions that produced important outcomes to boost the UAE’s development and quality of life.
Al Gergawi said, “The strong participation from government entities shows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to work together as one team to achieve our nation’s goals. This event is an excellent platform for discussing priorities and launching initiatives that will enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness.”
He added, “The Annual Meetings introduced strategic projects and national initiatives that guide future development, including the National Investment Strategy 2031, a polar research project, and a package of community initiatives valued at AED 500 million.”
Al Gergawi continued, “The meetings featured important sessions of the Cabinet, five federal councils, and various national and local committees. Three retreats focused on national identity, family, and artificial intelligence, along with eight sessions for UAE leaders and local entities. More than ten main sessions highlighted upcoming national directions in key areas like economy, AI, education, and family empowerment. The meetings also celebrated the achievements of national teams, honoring their members.”
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, stressed the importance of the Annual Meetings in achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This vision emphasizes teamwork and integrating national efforts at all government levels to strengthen the UAE’s leadership and adaptability.
Al Roumi stated, “This year’s meetings are particularly important due to key changes in their structure and agenda. These changes allowed for the announcement of national projects and programs aimed at speeding up progress toward ‘We the UAE 2031’ goals.”
The UAE Government’s Annual Meetings also launched the National Anti-Drug Strategy, ratified 22 international agreements on various priority areas, and signed MoUs with 17 countries. Other outcomes included the Young Government Leaders Program, honoring recipients of the UAE Order for Culture and Creativity, and signing an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Siemens. This agreement initiates phase one of a project to reduce energy and water use in federal buildings through retrofitting energy-intensive structures.
