The UAE is scorching at 47.8°C as the country is gripped by a heatwave and humidity

With temperatures reaching a scorching 47.8°C in some areas and high humidity levels making things even more miserable, the United Arab Emirates is currently suffering an extreme heatwave. Through tomorrow, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of persistently choppy seas and humid weather.

People nationwide have been urged to drink plenty of water and remain indoors during the hottest afternoon hours. Weather trends are being closely watched by authorities, particularly around the coast where humidity is driving up real-feel temperatures.

Strong winds are predicted to cause choppy conditions in the Arabian Gulf, especially for smaller boats and beachgoers, and a rough sea advisory is still in effect. To protect the public, lifeguards and Coast Guard personnel are constantly on duty.

Although they stress that such high temperatures are normal during the UAE’s summer peak, meteorologists forecast that the harsh weather may subside somewhat around midweek. Until the heatwave passes, the public is urged to heed health and safety precautions.
