The UAE activated its emergency airport operations plan amidst growing tensions in the Israel-Iran conflict, causing a sweep of airspace closures throughout the region.
In coordination with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), field teams have been deployed 24/7 at airports across the Emirates, including Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport and Dubai International. Their role: ensure passenger safety, streamline processing, and support stranded travellers with accommodations and travel assistance .
Major UAE carriers — Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, and Air Arabia — have countered by canceling, diverting, or postponing flights to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel. Most of them have remained suspended until June 30, while flights to Tel Aviv have been suspended until June 22 .
Travel agencies are urging UAE residents not to pre-cancel flights, as rebooking and refunds under prevailing airline rules are free of charge. Alternatively, visitors should await official airline announcements, keep booking information current, and register with applicable consular services such as Twajudi amid this fluid situation.
