The job market in the UAE for 2025 is expected to present a wealth of opportunities across different sectors, but job seekers should prepare for heightened competition. Emphasizing essential skills and acquiring relevant certifications will help candidates stand out in this challenging environment.

According to Robert Half’s annual salary guide, a significant portion of workers surveyed—over two-thirds—plan to seek new employment next year. The guide also forecasts a more competitive job market, driven by an influx of expatriate talent.

Top Jobs in Demand:

Finance and Accounting: Positions like Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and Tax Manager are highly sought after. Important skills include ERP systems, bilingual proficiency (Arabic/English), and experience in corporate tax. Certifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, and CTA are greatly valued.

Information Technology (IT): There is a strong demand for Product Managers and Software Engineering Managers. Key skills include programming languages (Python, Rust, Go), UI/UX design, and stakeholder management. Certifications like AWS, CISM, Prince2, and ISO27001 are advantageous.

Legal: There is a strong demand for positions such as Legal Counsel and Head of Legal. Key skills include experience in IPOs and M&A, expertise in real estate and Islamic finance, as well as proficiency in multiple languages. Certifications like US/UK Solicitor, LPC, and LLB/LLM are highly regarded.

Human Resources (HR): The market is looking for HR Generalists and Heads of HR. Essential skills include experience in transformation and restructuring, along with data analytics. Certifications such as CIPD, HR Management, and an LLM in Employment Law can provide an advantage.

Financial Services: Compliance Managers and Quantitative Traders are sought after. A solid understanding of Dubai’s regulatory environment and strong stakeholder management skills are vital. Certifications like ACAMS, CISI, ACA, and ACCA are considered valuable.

Expected Salaries:

High-level positions in the UAE can command salaries exceeding Dh1 million annually. For example, Heads of Legal and Compliance Managers typically earn between Dh262,000 and Dh406,250, and Dh140,000 to Dh215,000, respectively. Financial Planning & Analysis Managers and Product Managers can expect salaries ranging from Dh98,000 to Dh138,000 and Dh81,600 to Dh114,250, respectively.

Conclusion:

Even with rising competition, the UAE continues to attract expats looking for varied career opportunities and international experience. Companies remain keen to hire top talent, although initial salary offers may be lower than in previous years. For individuals aiming to start or progress their careers in the UAE, being adaptable and committed to ongoing skill development will be crucial in navigating the evolving job market.
