The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that high-risk groups, particularly individuals aged 50 and older who are current or former smokers, will be targeted through this platform.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to combat lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), an estimated 1.8 million people died of lung cancer in 2020, accounting for 18% of all cancer deaths that year. Smoking is responsible for approximately 85% of all lung cancer cases, making it a critical area of focus for public health interventions.
