According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), temperatures in some interior areas of the United Arab Emirates are expected to reach a scorching 50°C, bringing with it a weekend of extreme weather. Strong gusts and dust storms are predicted to accompany the heat, making it harder to see, especially in open areas like the desert.
Residents are advised to take precautions as the searing heat could pose serious health risks, especially during midday hours. The NCM has warned that coastal and northern regions may also experience rough seas and unstable maritime conditions, urging beachgoers and small vessels to stay cautious.
In the upcoming days, there will be a minor drop in temperature, but the relief will be accompanied by strong winds and blowing sand, which may cause traffic jams and disturbances outside. Because of the poor visibility, drivers are advised to drive cautiously and refrain from making abrupt lane changes.
The public is urged to heed official updates and alerts as authorities continue to keep a careful eye on the situation. It is advised to stay indoors when dust levels are high, stay hydrated, and stay indoors during periods of extreme heat.
