With the final long weekend of 2024 approaching, residents of the UAE are already anticipating the public holidays set for 2025. Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a staycation, or simply some much-deserved downtime, here’s everything you need to know about the official holidays for both the private and public sectors next year.

Final Long Weekend of 2024: December 2–3, 2024
Before we look ahead to 2025, let’s not overlook this year’s last long weekend. The Eid Al Etihad holiday will provide residents with a four-day break from Saturday, November 30, to Tuesday, December 3, for those who follow a typical Saturday-Sunday weekend. This extended time off is a great chance to end the year with some relaxation or travel.

Public Holidays 2025: Full List
The UAE Cabinet has officially released the public holiday schedule for 2025, allowing residents to plan their year ahead.

Key Public Holidays for 2025:
New Year’s Day

January 1 (Wednesday): A midweek break to start the year.
Eid Al Fitr

Likely dates: April 28 (Monday) to May 1 (Thursday).
A four-day holiday, depending on moon sighting.
Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha

Likely dates: June 15 (Sunday) to June 18 (Wednesday).
Islamic New Year (Hijri Year 1447)

July 7 (Monday): A single-day holiday.
Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday

September 16 (Tuesday): A midweek holiday.
Commemoration Day and UAE National Day

December 1 (Monday) to December 3 (Wednesday).

Holiday Rules to Keep in Mind
As per the UAE Cabinet decision:

Public holidays may be shifted to the start or end of the week, except Islamic holidays that depend on moon sightings.
If a public holiday falls on the same day as another public holiday or a weekend, it will not be postponed.
Local authorities have the option to announce extra holidays for special events.
Plan and Make the Most of 2025
With a combination of midweek holidays and longer breaks, the 2025 calendar presents numerous chances to relax and celebrate. Whether you live in the UAE or are just visiting, be sure to note these dates and begin planning for a year filled with exciting holidays and festivities.
