A company working to make space travel more affordable has its sights set on launching from Dubai. This exciting plan will give travelers a chance to view the Burj Khalifa and Palm Island from the edge of space. Space Perspective, the company behind this vision, shared their plans in detail.

Michael Savage, CEO of Space Perspective, highlighted why Dubai is an ideal location. “Launching over Palm Island and seeing iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa from above—it’s one of the most stunning areas we could choose,” he said.

Positive Expansion Plans

Roman Chiporukha, Co-Founder and CEO of SpaceVIP, a partner in the project, expressed confidence about expanding to the Middle East. “We’ve seen strong interest from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Once we find the right partner, we hope to start operations here,” he told Khaleej Times.

Making Space Travel Easy and Affordable

The company’s mission is to make space travel affordable and accessible for more people. Roman explained, “Unlike rocket travel, which requires training and dealing with intense G-forces, our system uses a pressurized capsule attached to a hydrogen balloon. It travels at just 12 miles per hour to the edge of space. If you can fly on a regular commercial plane, you can take this journey.”

The six-hour experience costs approximately Dh460,000. “It takes two hours to ascend, and travelers spend two hours at the edge of space in a luxurious capsule,” said Michael. “The capsule has comfortable seats, the largest windows ever flown to space, and even a restroom. We call it a ‘balloon with a view.’ Afterward, passengers descend gently under the balloon.”

Luxury Features in Space

The capsule, known as the Space Lounge, accommodates up to eight passengers and a captain. Travelers also get to enjoy a Michelin-starred meal, thanks to a partnership Roman helped secure. “It’s the first Michelin-starred meal served in space,” added Michael.

Strong Interest and Ticket Sales

Interest in the project has been overwhelming. “We’ve sold 1,800 tickets and have a backlog of 225 million tickets,” Roman said. Surprisingly, it’s not just billionaires signing up. “Many tickets are purchased by middle-class families who are saving up for this unique experience.”

Roman shared a touching story about baby boomers using their savings for this adventure. “Some couples are saying, ‘We’re not leaving $500,000 to our kids—we’re going to space instead.’ They’ve dreamed of this since watching rockets launch in the 80s and 90s.”

With growing demand and the possibility of launching from Dubai, affordable space travel is closer than ever for people around the world.
