A new report from Skyscanner reveals that 71% of UAE residents plan to travel in 2025, with a focus on collective experiences, building memories, and forming connections. Unlike 2024’s cultural exploration trend, next year’s travel preferences will shift towards meaningful and social experiences.

Amanpreet Singh, Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer at Travelwings, highlighted the resilience of UAE residents despite global uncertainties. “People are prioritizing travel for relaxation and to escape daily stress. Many have built savings post-pandemic, making them financially ready for vacations. The travel industry has also adapted with enhanced safety measures,” he explained.

Shifting Focus: From Savings to Meaningful Travel

Residents are increasingly drawn to unique travel experiences that foster connections. Nostalgia travel, sleep tourism, and wellness retreats are trending, as travelers look for destinations that offer emotional and physical rejuvenation. Singh added, “Many are investing in diverse holiday experiences that go beyond traditional vacations.”

Dubai resident Deepika Anush shared her perspective: “While saving is important, travel is essential for mental health. We spend around Dh5,000 to Dh10,000 per trip to ensure quality time as a family.” She and her family plan to visit Zanzibar in March 2025 for a relaxing getaway.

How Much Are UAE Residents Spending on Travel?

The high-income levels and economic stability in the UAE are reflected in travel spending patterns. According to Akram Adel, General Manager at Al Tayer Travel, “The UAE’s strong economy and diverse travel options contribute to a robust travel culture.”

Singh noted that younger travelers (ages 22-27) often choose affordable packages, spending Dh2,500 to Dh3,500 per person. In contrast, luxury travelers may allocate up to Dh18,000 per person for premium experiences, including high-end accommodations and activities.

Additionally, airfare trends have made certain destinations more accessible, with fares to places like Budapest, Turkey, and Japan dropping by 20–30%. Skyscanner also reports a growing preference for long-haul trips to destinations such as Japan, the US, and Latin America.

Emerging Travel Trends for 2025

Skyscanner identifies key travel trends set to dominate 2025:

  • Astrotourism: A surge in interest for stargazing destinations driven by celestial events and astronomy.
  • Gami-vacation: Video game-inspired travel is on the rise, with 81% of UAE travelers choosing locations featured in their favorite games.
  • Art Venture: Immersive art experiences that bring famous artworks to life are captivating travelers seeking cultural enrichment.
  • Horti-Culture: Travelers are exploring stunning gardens and landscapes, from Dutch tulip fields to London’s Kew Gardens.
  • Sports Mode: Sporting events like Formula 1 are becoming popular travel motives, especially among younger age groups.
  • Reset Jetters: Wellness travel, including spa retreats and yoga workshops, is gaining traction as travelers prioritize their health.

With UAE residents embracing diverse experiences and prioritizing travel, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of exploration, connection, and personal growth. Whether it’s a luxury retreat or a budget-friendly cultural trip, the travel industry is ready to cater to evolving preferences.
