UAE Schools Change Timings to Protect Students from Extreme Heat

With rising temperatures nationwide, UAE schools have come out with revised timetables designed to keep students safe from extreme heat without hampering studies. The new timing framework focuses on health and safety without sacrificing learning achievements.

The reforms follow as regions of the UAE experience temperatures over 45°C, raising worries about student exposure during the hottest hours. Numerous schools are adjusting start and finish times, minimizing outdoor activities, and implementing flexible learning options to reduce heat-related hazards.

Representatives of education authorities said the measures are temporary but necessary, especially for younger pupils and those commuting long distances. Schools are also introducing heat-awareness campaigns, hydration breaks, and shaded waiting areas to complement safety.

Parents and educators have mostly responded positively to the move, appreciating it as a precautionary step to prioritize student well-being. As global climate patterns remain in flux, UAE schools may increasingly resort to such adaptive mechanisms to guarantee continuity and health-concerned provision of education.
