The UAE’s government-owned EV charging network, UAEV, has announced that new EV charging tariffs will start in January 2025. The updated rates set DC chargers at Dh1.20 per kWh (plus VAT) and AC chargers at Dh0.70 per kWh (plus VAT).

Since the tariffs were first introduced in May, EV charging has remained free. The upcoming changes aim to support a sustainable and scalable EV charging infrastructure, in line with the UAE’s green energy goals.

Enhanced Services for EV Users

To make EV charging more convenient, UAEV is launching a mobile app with features like station locators, live updates, and easy payment options. Additionally, a 24/7 call center will provide real-time assistance, ensuring a smooth experience for EV drivers.

Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, shared:

“The introduction of standard tariffs and innovative solutions like the UAEV app and 24/7 support shows our commitment to improving the EV driver experience. By expanding our network and aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, we’re building a cleaner, greener future.”

Expanding the Charging Network

By 2030, UAEV plans to install 1,000 charging stations across the UAE. These chargers will be strategically placed in cities, highways, and transit points to ensure accessibility for both local and inter-city travel. The network will cover all emirates, making EV charging easier for all users.
