The UAE is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures, with Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the country, recording a frigid 1.9°C, one of the coldest readings of the season. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed this low temperature early this morning and also forecasted a further decline in temperatures nationwide. Residents across various emirates woke up to overcast skies and brisk winds, indicating the peak of winter in the UAE.

This cooler weather is due to a shift in atmospheric pressure, which has brought cloudy conditions and a noticeable temperature drop. Coastal and desert regions are also feeling the effects, with daytime temperatures remaining pleasantly cool and nighttime temperatures falling even lower. The NCM has urged residents to dress warmly, particularly in higher altitudes and outdoor areas, to mitigate the discomfort from sudden cold snaps.

In addition to the chill, scattered clouds are anticipated across the UAE, with a slight chance of light rain in some areas. Commuters and travelers are encouraged to stay informed about weather conditions and to drive carefully during early morning hours when fog or low visibility could create challenges on the roads.

The colder months in the UAE present a great opportunity for residents to engage in outdoor activities, especially in mountainous areas like Jebel Jais. With stunning views and crisp air, the winter season showcases the country’s diverse climate and offers a refreshing escape from the typical desert heat.
