The UK has formally introduced an online entry permit requirement for European tourists, which is a new development in post-Brexit travel rules. EU travelers, along with other visa-free nations, are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) prior to entering the UK.
The £10 (around 12 euros) permit will be sold online over the next few days. The authorities stress that the procedure is easy and rapid, enabling tourists to obtain authorization ahead of their trip.
The initiative is part of the UK’s wider border security policy, providing improved control over visitor arrivals while also simplifying travel processes. Visitors must fill in a brief application form, offering basic personal information, travel details, and security-related answers.
Authorities guarantee that the new system will not impede tourism but instead increase security while keeping efficient entry for European visitors. The UK government anticipates a seamless transition, with little disruption to tourists planning to visit in the near term.
