A 17-year-old driver hit four pedestrians in a shocking road accident in New Delhi, resulting in injuries that varied from minor to severe. This incident, which occurred in a crowded area, has reignited concerns about underage driving and the enforcement of road safety measures.

Authorities stated that the teenager lost control of the vehicle, causing the crash. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with bystanders rushing to help the injured until emergency services arrived. The police have since detained the underage driver, and the car involved has been confiscated as part of the investigation.

Officials stressed that strict measures would be taken against both the driver and the vehicle’s owner for breaching traffic regulations. According to Indian law, driving underage can result in significant penalties, including fines and the suspension of the guardian’s driving license.

This incident underscores the pressing need for increased parental oversight and stricter enforcement to curb underage driving, aiming to create safer roads for both pedestrians and drivers.
