In the final round, Veerman delivered an impressive 69, securing his victory in a nail-biting finish and earning his place among one of the tour’s most prestigious titles.
Starting the day five strokes behind, Veerman managed six birdies and three bogeys under challenging conditions, setting a five-under-par target for the final groups to chase. The tournament remained intense until the end, with a bogey on the final hole stopping South African Aldrich Potgieter from forcing a playoff against Veerman.
Potgieter seemed poised for a memorable win on home soil after regaining his three-shot overnight lead with a birdie at the 10th hole. However, things took a turn at the par-three 12th, where Potgieter’s triple bogey gave Veerman a surprising lead.
The drama didn’t stop there. On the 14th, Potgieter hit a remarkable birdie to retake the lead temporarily. But as Veerman secured a par on the 18th to close at five under, Potgieter bogeyed the 16th and missed a good birdie opportunity on the 17th, leaving the two players tied.
With the pressure on, Potgieter faced the final hole, where a closing bogey handed Veerman an emotional and well-deserved victory.
This triumph marks Veerman’s second career win, following his 2021 success at the D+D Real Czech Masters in Prague. With this achievement, Veerman now leads the 2024–25 Race to Dubai and takes home a prize of $1,025,000. His next destination is Dubai, where he plans to finalize his Golden Visa and relocate with his family in January 2025.
