Dubai is set to welcome a new era of transportation as WeRide’s self-driving robotaxis prepare to launch in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Uber. Pilot operations will commence later this year, with a full driverless service rollout expected by 2026. This collaboration is part of Dubai’s ambitious strategy to make 25% of all transport trips autonomous by 2030.

WeRide, a leading global autonomous driving company, will introduce its state-of-the-art robotaxi fleet to the city’s streets, integrating advanced AI-driven mobility solutions. The vehicles will undergo rigorous safety and performance tests during the pilot phase, ensuring a seamless experience for riders before full deployment. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s Smart City vision and commitment to sustainable, efficient transport solutions.

As per RTA officials, the incorporation of autonomous taxis will decrease traffic congestion, increase road safety, and offer convenient, environmentally friendly transport options. Uber’s partnership with WeRide will increase availability for the service, enabling passengers to book WeRide’s autonomous taxis on the Uber app upon full operation launch.”.

Dubai keeps on leading in intelligent mobility at the global level, with projects such as WeRide’s robotaxis setting the course for smart city transport in the future. As autonomous technology improves, residents and tourists can look forward to enjoying driverless rides through the city very soon.
