Starting September 26, Etihad will introduce its cutting-edge Airbus A321LR on the Abu Dhabi–Kolkata route, marking a major upgrade for regional travel. The sleek narrow-body jets feature two private First Suites, a first for short-haul service, each equipped with lie-flat beds, sliding doors, 20‑inch 4K screens, and wireless charging—mirroring the indulgence of their wide-body fleet.
The Business Class cabin boasts 14 lie-flat seats arranged in a 1‑1 herringbone layout, giving every passenger direct aisle access and wide-body level comfort. Each seat includes a 17.3‑inch 4K display, Bluetooth audio pairing, and USB A&C charging for a connected travel experience.
The upgrading benefits even economy passengers: Up to five inches of recline, 18.4 inches of width (one of the broadest in narrow-bodies), and individual 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens with USB charging and lightning-fast Viasat Wi-Fi throughout the cabin are features of the 144 seats.
As part of its Journey 2030 plan, Etihad is expanding the A321LR to connect and provide luxury to medium-haul routes like Kolkata, joining other regional destinations including Algiers, Riyadh, and Krabi. On August 1, the aircraft went into service, and this year, over ten more joined the fleet.
