Dubai’s Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has unveiled the ‘Dubai Code for Ports,’ a world-first project designed in collaboration with major maritime partners. This comprehensive technical guide aims to create a unified set of standards for developing and managing ports, marinas, and maritime activities, positioning Dubai as a leader in maritime infrastructure globally.
His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of PCFC, highlighted that the ‘Dubai Code for Ports’ is a critical milestone to boost efficiency in maritime operations. “We are committed to providing a safe, efficient environment that aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, supporting global trade while preserving natural resources and the marine environment,” he said.
HE Bin Sulayem stressed that the project is part of PCFC’s mission to strengthen Dubai’s global influence in supply chains and maritime transport, ensuring high standards in port and marina infrastructure that will enable seamless operations locally and internationally.
Strategic Workshop with Maritime Partners
The PCFC hosted a strategic workshop with key maritime partners at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Hotel. His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of PCFC, described the ‘Dubai Code for Ports’ as an advanced step for managing Dubai’s rapid maritime growth.
He noted, “This guide meets the rising demand for maritime infrastructure in coastal areas, supporting Dubai’s progress in trade facilitation, marine tourism, and other sectors.”
HE Al Neyadi further explained that the project includes a unified technical guide covering crucial areas such as soil inspection, dredging, land reclamation, island construction, and breakwater design.
He expressed confidence that the code will improve Dubai’s port and marina operations by setting technical standards for customs warehouses and maritime infrastructure. This project is set to establish Dubai as a major global hub in maritime trade.
