Jaffar Motiwala is an Indian expat living in the UAE who has made headlines as the duty-free shopper buying raffle tickets for 30 years on Big Ticket. A 60-year-old, Motiwala says he always purchases at least one ticket each month in hopes of winning big. Motiwala, in fact, is now the epitome of patience and perseverance, with such commitment over a period of 30 years.

Motiwala regularly participates in lotteries, and this is the reason behind him being praised for his perseverance; many like his optimism since he never managed to win a jackpot. Excitement and hopes are as essential to him as the actual prize. Both fellow expats and locals feel he is devoted to his dream by his persistent attitude.

In an interview, Motiwala said that although he has not won yet, the excitement of the draw and the hope of having a life-changing moment keeps him going. He believes that perseverance is the key, and his journey has become a personal tradition that brings him joy, win or lose.

The story of Motiwala resonates with many; the value of participation goes beyond potential rewards. As he continues buying his tickets, he remains hopeful that one day, his decades-long streak might finally pay off.
