Novak Djokovic is under fitness scrutiny ahead of his Australian Open semi-final clash with Alexander Zverev. The Serbian was treated for a leg injury on the court as he overcame Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals to reach the final four, going on to take the match in four sets.
Djokovic has chosen to forgo training for two days in a row and focus on recovery. He confessed to being “worried” about his physical condition but said he is still mentally and emotionally ready for the match. The semi-final is on Thursday, so he still has some time to recover.
He has a good record of fighting through injuries and winning, particularly with a hamstring problem in 2023 at the Australian Open. Therefore, it is feasible that he will do the same here. Yet, how strong he will recover from the setback is going to be crucial against Zverev.
